FAQ
1. What is the Sister Soldier Project?
Sister Soldier Project is a web-based business dedicated to making it simple for anyone to send gift packages of ethnic hair care products to female Military Personnel on active duty anywhere in the world.

2. How Does Sister Soldier Project Work?
We have two methods of shipping packages. First, if you know someone and have her exact military address, select a package or packages for your shopping cart, enter the address and payment information, and we do the rest! If you want us to select a Soldier, simply decide on a package or packages for your shopping cart, enter your payment information, and we will choose a name of a Soldier who has requested our products from www.anysoldier.com.

Either way, you will be able to enclose a personal note to the Solider.

3. Is Sister Soldier Project associated with the government or any other organization?
No, Sister Soldier Project is an independent, privately held company, founded and owned by California businesswoman Myraline Morris Whitaker

4. What if my company wants to donate products?
If your company is interested in donating products or participating in our Corporate Sponsor Program, please e-mail The Sister Soldier Project Contact Us.

5.Is my gift tax deductible?
According to the IRS, gifts made to individuals are not tax deductible. We believe one of the things that makes Sister Soldier Project special is the fact that our customers are able to show their support for our troops by sending packages and good wishes to individual soldiers. Because they are going to an individual soldier by name, the IRS treats them the same way they would if a friend or family member sent a package.

6. How will I know my package was received?
We give soldiers two ways to say Thanks. They can send an e-mail to Sister Soldier Project which we will post on our web site “Notes from Sister Soldiers,” and will forward the e-mail note to the purchaser. In case someone doesn't have access to the Internet; we also enclose a pre-addressed thank you postcard in every package. The card is sent back at no cost to the Soldier. When the card comes back to the Sister Soldier Project offices, we'll forward it to the sponsor.

7. Why can't I communicate directly with my Soldier?
For security reasons, we’re committed to keeping contact information completely confidential. Sister Soldier Project is the liaison between soldiers who we know will appreciate receiving these specialty products and Americans who want to show their support for the brave women of our armed forces who are protecting our country.

8. Can groups participate in a Sister Soldier Packing Party?
Sister Soldier Project makes it easy for companies, organizations, groups or individuals to send packages to one or more soldiers. Give us your budget and leave all the details to us. We will tell you how many Soldiers we can support within your budget, supply a summary of our shipments on your behalf, and forward all thank you notes from the Soldiers back to your organization. For more information, Contact Us.

9. How did SISTER SOLDIER PROJECT decide what products to offer on the web site?
Ethnic hair care is difficult under the best of circumstances. A Sister Soldier requires different products to manage and maintain her hair. As the requests change, we will offer additional products for sale.

We are supplying only those products that are frequently requested by the Sister Soldiers.

10. What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, or PayPal, for individual orders. We also accept personal or company checks and money orders for group Packing Party purchases.

11. How much is shipping and handling and how long does it take?
We send all our shipments USPS Priority Mail, and the rates rise periodically. On average one of our care packages is ten pounds and is shipped within 48 hours of receiving the order. In our experience, packages can take 7-14 days to arrive in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan. You will be advised of the total shipping and handling cost before you check out of the Shopping Cart.

12. Sales Tax
Retail sales of tangible personal property in California are generally subject to sales tax. The sales and use tax rate varies statewide. The statewide sales and use tax rate is currently 7.25 percent. However, the rate is higher in locations where voters have approved additional "district" taxes.

13. If my soldier will be home soon, should I still send a package?
It is Sister Soldier Project’s policy not to send packages to an individual soldier if our site or www.anysoldier.com has been advised that she will be changing her current location within 90 days. There is too great a chance that she would not receive the package.

14. Can I get delivery confirmation?
The Military Postal Service does not offer a delivery confirmation service at this time. However, from the numerous thank you responses we receive from Sister Soldiers, we are confident that deliveries are made in a timely manner and that the entire process is working. See a sample of the letters on the “Notes from Sister Soldiers” page.

15. What About tracking my package?
Currently the only way to track a package that is going to an APO or FPO address is to register it. Registering a package slows down delivery time considerably. It has to be scanned and logged into the system at each stop along the way. This special handling would also add considerable additional shipping costs.
