I received your package and I just want to say thank you. I distributed the contents out to the women in my sections. Thank you for starting a project for deployed women because it is so hard to maintain your hair over here. The water says potable but that still doesn’t make it safe for our hair. There are some African American products in the Exchange and it seems as if someone put in a good word about “Motions” because they stock it in the Exchange. Unfortunately they are only 3 types of relaxers in the Exchange and I know that most of us don’t use store bought relaxers. We have to make do though. I really wish there was a beauty salon here that stocked professional relaxers. We adapt and overcome. Again thank you for your support and keeping us in your prayers.

My first care package was from Sister Soldier Project and I was delighted when I received the package. I was even more ecstatic when I went to your website and researched your project. I can't tell you what a blessing your project is to the African American Marines in Al Asad. Dr Miracles, Luster's Pink Products and Organic Root Stimulator are wonderful products. I bought Dr Miracles' Temple Balm and Organic Root Stimulator's Carrot Oil and Hair Mayo products with me when I came here. Luster's has some great hair sheen. Hello, this is Princess in Iraq! I just wanted to thank you all for what you are doing for us here. The products yall send are very helpful because for some reason the PX don't sell the right products for me, and if they have any, it is pretty old! Isn't that crazy! Thanks again. If you guys can send anything else to us we would like to have the following: pink oil moisturizer, olive oil perms (reg), hair bands (brown or black), rubber bands, shower caps, and hair ties. Thanks soo much for helping the sistas out!!

I just wanted to say thank you for making me a part of your lives. I've been blessed to have the opportunity to connect with some beautiful women who encourages without even trying. I just want to take this time to tell you I appreciate everything you have sent me. It brightens me up after along day of work. I thank God everyday for people like you all who takes the time out of you all busy days to get packages for a soldier like me. Me & my battle buddies enjoyed the magazine, books, & the other good stuff you sent. I appreciate it. Words can’t explain how thankful I am. I have one special request "Can you please send me a twin size blanket set for my room?" They issued us green blankets & white sheets. I want to change my bed cause that spread been on there since I been deployed & I been deployed for 6 months now & I have 9 more months to go. If you cant get it don’t worry bout it. But I appreciate everything you have done for me so far. If you don’t send me a package I appreciate an email or just a card in the mail! Thanks a lot God Bless & Keep Us ALL!! I will spread the word. I have to keep my hair looking nice over here cause my appearance go along way with me. I have been in Afghanistan since November and will be here until it rolls around again. I wanted to let you know that I am ever so grateful for the things that you have sent to us. I gave some of the things that you sent me to the Chapel that we have here on the FOB Some of the things that you sent us brought a smile to my face b/c who would think to send "us" something for our hair a lot of the things that some people send are good but what you sent was on point. Not saying that I am not thankful for what the other people send sometimes but it different.

Here is little about me… I am a 27 year old mother of one. I have been in the US Navy for 8 years and I can say THANK GOD!!! I am a person in Strong Faith in God and I am learning as time goes by that I am a good person who let bad times bring her down, something that I will never do again, I have life, strength and a better understanding so that is all I really need. Well I don’t mean to bore you, but I just wanted to say thank you again, hope that I hear from you soon.

I was located on Camp Stryker. Funny Story, I went to Camp Victory because that is where they have big PX(post exchange) and a beauty shop. I thought maybe I could get my hair wash and flat iron so I could have a curly pony tail. She washed it ok. Hindsight I should have ask what type of equipment she had. Well she started blow drying my hair and pick up a very small comb to come it thru as she blow dry it. I realize then and there that she did not know how to deal with my hair. She was pulling my hair out. I told her to give me a bigger come and I blow dried my own hair and said that it was ok on curling it. I left out of there with big hair. I found someone to put flat twist in my hair and to teach me how to flat twist my own hair. I am getting pretty good. I will be here till August.

They have some products but usually not what the average person would use or it goes very quickly. When I first sign onto AnySoldier I had hair products. But since I was not receiving anything on requested, I took it off. I focus on snacks.

Requests or suggestions or whatever you want to send. I will be grateful for Let’s Jam gel(strongest hold), black magazines/books, Yoga stuff( I have started a class here. I show dvds twice a week. I plan on getting certified when I get a chance in the states. Yoga class relaxes me. I have about six student who comes to the class regularly) Beewax hair grease (that and the gel is the only thing that has laid my thick hair down), Noodle in cup or bowl
