Thank You Notes

Hi I’m Larita, this is my first deployment, I have been here since Christmas, and we are scheduled to leave next December . Being down here has taken a harsh toll on my  skin and hair. I was so excited when i heard of your great  project! The PX that we have down here is always running out of every day hair supplies, my battle buddy and I share the little products  that we do have with each other. Both of us are African American, and it’s also very hard for us to find products down here that will work on out hair texture. We both have very thick hair. The summer is quickly approaching, and being out here really dries our hair out causing it to break off. Although we are soldiers, we still are women and its important that as a woman that we always feel good about ourselves.  Once again I would like to thank you for supporting the troops! J may God bless you!

I received an email through the female Soldiers in my brigade from you. After reading the email and going to your web site, I gladly give you and your organization a "thumbs-up", great project!. I recently arrived in Iraq to Joint Base Balad and the lack of sufficient ethnic products was one of my main concerns, not only for myself but others. Although, there are a few ethic hair products in the base exchange, they are very limited. Additionally, there is a severe shortage of 220V hair appliances, such as hair dryers, curling irons, and flat irons. After only one week of being on ground there was much talk amongst some soldiers referencing the condition/appearance of some of our female soldiers' hair. These comments were very offensive, although they were not referencing me in particular, I still felt a sense of pity for those they commented about. Afterwards, I quickly went on a quest to have the installation base exchanges consider requesting more ethic products and appliances. Unfortunately, I seriously don't my request was taken seriously by the exchange managers. Therefore, an introduction to your project was most welcomed. It gives me much pride and honor to know that there is someone in our corner, remembering us as individuals too. Thanks for supporting our female troops. Please find my information below. MAJ Moore

Greetings my dear Sisters.

I received my package about a week ago.  Pls forgive me for the delay in showing my appreciation.  I was able to share some of the products with the other ladies and in my sharing I provided them with your website.

Dr. Miracle is a little too strong for my hair, BUT it was the #1 product for some of the other ladies.  :o)  I’m just grateful that you are taking the time out to show us love over here; it means a lot.  Many of us suffer with the upkeeping of our tresses b/c of the water and lack of ethnic products available to us.  We receive mounds of care packages from very supportive and loving people, but rarely ever are there ethnic products shipped.

So again, I want to personally thank you and your team for what you are doing to bring smiles upon the faces of those who require ethnic products---as we continue to defend freedom.

Pls keep us in your thoughts and prayers and may you continue to reap the benefits of God’s blessings and His everlasting love.

Ma’am,
I apologize for the long wait. I received my Hair care package a few weeks ago. I attached a few pictures but more importantly, I wanted to tell you how very grateful I am to be a recipient of items that I was really in need of. I will definitely get good use of everything in the box during my year here in Mosul, Iraq. By sending me this package, you’ve given me a little more confidence and stride in my step because my hair looks and feels wonderful. Heck, I even put on a little make-up!

Thank you so much Sister Soldier Project.
Yours truly,
CPT Latonya
